Publish a course

Publishing makes your latest changes live for learners. Your course has a draft version you edit and a published version learners see.

Publishing makes your latest updates live for learners. Every course has two versions: the draft, where you make changes, and the published version, which is what learners see. Edits you make in the editor are saved as draft changes and don't reach learners until you publish.

Publish your course

  1. Open your course.
  2. Select Publish at the top of the screen.
  3. Review your changes, the panel shows how many changes you've made and how long since the course was last published.
  4. Select Publish again to confirm.

Your course updates for learners once publishing finishes. If your course includes AI narration, you'll choose Generate narrations and publish from this same screen.

Revert to the last published version

If you need to undo recent edits, you can roll back to your last live version:

  1. Open your course.
  2. Select Publish.
  3. Choose Revert to return to your last published version.

Coassemble keeps only your most recent published version, so once you publish new changes, that becomes the version you can revert to. Earlier versions aren't stored.

Knowing what's live

At the top of a course, Time since last published shows how long ago it went live, and the Changes counter (shown when you select Publish) shows how many edits are waiting in your draft. Both are helpful when you're building with other creators, so everyone knows whether the latest changes are live.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to publish every small change?

No. Edits are saved to your draft as you go and only reach learners when you publish, so you can make many updates and push them live all at once.

Will publishing updates reset learner progress?

No. Publishing updates your content without affecting learner progress or completion data. Adding or removing a screen will show on the progression funnel in your analytics but won't affect existing completions.

Can I undo a publish?

You can't undo a publish, but you can revert to your last published version from the draft. Only the most recent published version is kept.

Am I looking at the draft or the published version?

If you're in the editor, you're working on the draft. The Time since last published and Changes indicators tell you when the live version was last updated.
